Sick boy in China

Well, we just recently got back from another trip to China (my third and Ty's second trip) and I'd like to say it was great, but unfortunately it wasn't our best trip. Shortly after arriving in China Tyler ended up getting spots all over his arms, so we took him to a doctor and they said it was probably just eczema and prescribed a lotion. Well the next day Ty started running a fever, so we gave him some Tylenol (fortunately I packed it with us) and stopped using the lotion on him (just in case that was the problem). We gave Ty some more Tylenol before bedtime, but around 4 AM we noticed that he was feeling very hot so we stripped him down to just a diaper and shirt. Moments later Tyler went into seizures! It was so scary, he actually stopped breathing for a moment as well, it was just for a few seconds, but it felt like an eternity! I was crying and yelling at my husband to get some water. I thought that we could wet a towel and put it on his head to try and cool him down. My husband frantically found a water bottle and not knowing what to do just pored it on him - not a recommended course of action but we were panicking at the time. Anyway, Tyler finally snapped out of his seizure and I told my husband to call somebody so he called his family and we ran Tyler to the hospital. At the hospital they said that Tyler's throat looked sore and a blood test showed that he had a high white blood cell count, so the doctor prescribed an antibiotic, saying that he had an infection in his throat. Well, not trusting Chinese doctors much, I later called the US embassy just to ask if the medicine was alright. They told me that they don't know much about medical things but they did know of a clinic in a neighboring city that had western doctors. We called the clinic and the doctor their said that the medicine would be fine and to keep using the Tylenol for his fever. The next day Tyler was still running a fever but the medicine we had was only for 2 days (leaving us with only 1 more dose), so we decided to take Tyler to see those western doctors. That was an ordeal in itself, it took 2 hours just to get there! Once there, the doctor diagnosed Tyler with Rheumatic Fever! So Ty also had an EKG just to test for any possibly heart damage. She put him on amoxicillin and told us to try and keep him on bed rest (or at least try to stay home) for the next 10 days, and by this time we only had about 9 days left of our trip. -UGH- Anyway, after finally coming home, we took Ty in to see his pediatrician and explained what had happened and she told us that it didn't sound like rheumatic fever to her, so she had us take Ty in for a blood test to be sure, and sure enough the blood test showed that he did not have rheumatic fever - he was misdiagnosed! -Thank God because apparently rheumatic fever is quite serious! I'm just so glad my little man is feeling better now!
Now after getting home we had another problem to take care of, we still needed another car since the accident. So that's how we've spent the last week since our trip - car shopping- it's a long story but in the end we narrowed our decision down to 2 cars, the Ford Fiesta or the Chevy Sonic, so we decided to test both and in the end we went with the Sonic. -I just love the color of this car!
