Recent news, Tyler lost his first tooth! Yep, he's only 4 and already losing teeth! I actually took him in to the dentist just to be safe, but sure enough, his permanent teeth are on their way. Unfortunately, he also has 4 cavities :( We have to schedule to fix 3 of the cavities, but the last one the dentist thinks that he may lose that tooth before it becomes an issue.

Tooth
I have been terrible about updating this blog. Most of my posts now usually end up on Facebook. I've actually been searching for a way to port my Facebook posts over to my blog, but so far all I can find are ways to post my blog on Facebook. Oh well.

Way behind!
I just checked and I can't believe I haven't updated this blog since May! Wow I'm behind! Anyway I have a lot to catch up on, first off, Tyler now has a friend, his name is Wesley and he lives across the street. Those 2 played together all summer, mostly outside, mostly barefoot. They play together, they fight together, they are together so much they are practically bothers -;) I am very happy that Tyler now has a consistent friend to play with, I think it's good for him.
Next matter of importance...China - We scheduled our trip this year in September. This trip was definitely better than our last, particularly since Tyler wasn't sick this time! I had some issues with heartburn for over a week, but after coming home I haven't had any problems since, so all I can figure is I was having trouble with the food. We stayed at Chun's brothers apartment again this year. We took Tyler to a fun place in the mall a few times (4 times actually) and on his birthday we took him to that amusement park again. He had so much more fun this year too, because he wasn't sick, but also due to being a bit older. He was excited for the rides and kept wanting to go on more, which is great until you want to leave -:) While in China this year we also managed to buy a mountain, yep, a mountain! -lol- And we took a high speed train to Dandong where we saw North Korea! My husband's niece goes to school in Dandong and it was suggested that we go visit her, and over there is the river that divides China from North Korea. I thought it would be cool to see, mostly just so I could say I had seen North Korea We heard they had boat tours that take you close to the border, so we rented a speed boat tour (which Tyler loved) Well, I was filming us going down the river when we were informed that we had to stop filming since we were entering North Korean! We had no idea the boats were allowed to do that! Apparently the tour people pay a fee or fine or something to be allowed to do this. We saw some Korean soldiers along the riverside, not 20 feet away, machine guns and all! - There was actually one spot that they let us take pictures, where they didn't have any soldiers or army boats, etc... so I did get a video of a woman washing her laundry in the river (wow, talk about being poor), but hey, I can now say I've actually been to North Korea!
Next...Tyler's birthday - For his birthday this year he chose an angry birds cake (we were still in China) then when we came back home we took him to Toys-R-Us to choose himself a birthday present (he chose the talking Avenger toys). He's still a very big boy! He measured 3'7" tall and 43 lbs 2 oz, which makes him 97% on weight and off the chart on height! Doctor said that basically if we compared him to 100 kids his age, he would likely be the tallest. :)
Next thing...Halloween - This year Tyler was planning to be Iron Man again, that is until we went to the Halloween store and Tyler found a Hulkbuster costume. We ended up buying the smallest size they had which said size 4-6, but it was huge! This thing could probably fit a 8-9 year old! I had to do a lot of modifying, but Tyler got to be the Hulkbuster in the end! He chose my outfit for me as well, he picked out a Spiderwoman costume for me. Tyler actually drew his own pumpkin this year - I loved it! Personally I think his pumpkin was the best of all!
Anyway, I finally updated my blog now, this is basically just a summary of the last 6 months, but hey, if I were to fill in everything I'd have a novel here, so this will have to do for now anyway. Life has become quite busy now with a 4 year old, we have play time with friends, preschool, gymnastics, library story time and other fun places we visit. I'm loving it!

40
I just realized that I hadn't updated my blog in a while. As the title of this post says - I turned 40 last month. It just seems surreal to me! I feel more like I should be turning 30 than 40. Time just goes by faster then I ever thought it would. I have been struggling with being 40. 30 didn't bother me much because at 30 people can still look young and pass for their 20's, but at 40, nobody passes for 20 anymore. At the same time though, I'm trying to think of 40 as being a new start in my life. My 30's were so hard with all my baby loss, I'm just hoping my 40's will be better!
Tyler is getting more and more fun as he is getting older, although he does have his bad tantrum moments occasionally, most of the time he is just amusing. He is speaking so much more now then even just a few months ago. He keeps surprising me with how well he can read. He plays well on his own and is even fun to watch while he is pretending to be Iron Man talking to Jarvis while pushing imaginary buttons on the wall - it's very cute! He loves playing his video games, especially Lego Marvel Superheroes, we have had to set a timer so that he doesn't play all day. Although I do have moments here and there where I miss his baby phase, overall I am enjoying him much more now! He's such a sweet little guy! I Love him so much!!!
We did our annual tulip festival a couple weeks ago. I think I was stressing about it too much though. It has become a tradition for us to get a family photo at the tulip festival, and for some reason I was just too worried about not getting a good photo. I really shouldn't let little things like this bother me. I guess I just don't want the tradition to be ruined.

Preschool
Yep, that's right, my Tyler started preschool! -This is actually late notice, since he started on January 15th, but hey- I called to schedule him for next fall, thinking that he would start then, but the teacher actually had an opening so we decided to go for it since I'm sure he would love it. I actually had a hard time with the idea, guess it's just a bit sad to think that my baby is getting so big that he can start going to preschool now. I actually stayed there the first day just to check it out, this preschool is just ran by a woman out of her home, so her class size is small (only 8) which is nice. By the second time I just took Tyler in, said goodbye to him and left, he was great although I was fighting back tears. Fortunately, my sadness wore off rather quickly once I got home and realized I had the whole house to myself! Yeah, preschool was going to have some perks for me as well :) Well, we also learned quickly one of the downsides to preschool, after only one week, Tyler ended up getting sick, ugh, which of course meant we all ended up getting sick -fun times -lol
Well, other fun we had recently was the circus came to town. Daddy was working so I just took Tyler by myself, but we had a lots of fun. They had elephant rides, and we were the first ones there. I only had a ticket for Tyler, but since nobody else had come yet, they just went ahead and let me ride for free! I was afraid Ty would be scared once he actually got up on the elephant, but he wasn't scared at all- he loved it- so in the end that's what he kept wanting to do. He rode the elephants 3 times and the ponies once- which by this point, I was really quite happy that he is my only! I ended up spending $55 for just one kid, but hey, there are some definite perks of being an only child -lol-

Oops :(
Last Saturday I was planning on doing a bit more Christmas shopping (almost done, just needed a few little things), then later in the day we were planning on going to Golden Coral for dinner (to make up for missing Thanksgiving, Ty was sick) and also planned on taking Ty to see Santa. Well, none of that came to be on account of my running to get the mail, tripping and falling and bending my pinky and ring finger on my left hand in ways they shouldn't bend. It was quite painful and embarrassing, luckily my neighbors came to rescue me while I was writhing in pain on the sidewalk. X-rays showed that I had fractured my 4th and 5th metacarpals, so now I have to wear a brace. They told me to have it rechecked in a month. Talk about bad timing with all the holiday things I still want to do, fortunately though my husband is out of school at the moment so he should be able to help. It's frustrating though, I feel completely useless!
Well, on a more positive note, Tyler is quite excited about anything Christmas this year! He loved the decorating, and everywhere we go he's constantly pointing out other Christmas decorations he sees. We were also able to take Tyler to the Santa parade in Tooele. He was actually the only kid on the block we were on too, so he ended up loaded with candy -lol- Also, the mill had a Christmas lighting ceremony, with donuts and hot chocolate, so I took Ty to that. Although we weren't there very long -too cold- Tyler did have some fun checking out the lights and playing in the leaves with some of the other kids. :)
